LUNCH SCHEDULE:
PLEASE REMEMBER TO ALWAYS CHECK THE DISTRICT WEBSITE AND PRINCIPAL COMMUNICATIONS FOR THE MOST RECENT SCHEDULING INFORMATION Supervision begins at 8:30am. For the safety of all children, students are not allowed on school grounds prior to then. STUDENT ARRIVAL PROCEDURES This year, all 1st through 5th graders will line up on the blacktop in grade level-marked areas (like we did prior to COVID mitigations). K students will line up in front of the K door (just west of main entrance). Students will be dismissed from these same locations. No more entry/dismissal on the north teacher parking lot side of the school. Students should be dropped off between white signs at the top of the traffic circle and use the following doors when entering school. Students will be dismissed through these same doors:
Late arrivals (after 8:40 am) should use the main doors and check in at the office. In the event of inclement weather, students will assemble in the building at 8:25 am. STUDENT DISMISSAL PROCEDURES
For students departing by car, please make sure to always display your name tag curbside. New families will receive a name tag on the first day of school; returning families who need to replace name tags can obtain them from the office for $2. Please be sure to pull up to the front of the traffic circle when picking up your child. . REPORT AN ABSENCE Report a student absence by going to the website or calling the school before 8:30 am: 630.861.4698 . Afternoon absences should be reported by 12:15 pm. We will call home to verify an absence if a student is absent and we have not received a call. Always call the office to report an absence; teachers do not relay student absences to the office. BICYCLE RIDING TO WALKER Students in Grades 3-5 may ride their bikes to school only after they have registered their bicycles with the Clarendon Hills Police. Students must wear bicycle helmets, lock their bikes while at Walker and have learned bicycle safety rules. SAFETY TO AND FROM SCHOOL Students may only cross Walker Avenue at the manned crosswalk. Please do not park across the street and wave your child across the street. Please review safety practices with your child, including the use of the crossing guard intersection, looking both ways, crossing at intersections, avoiding strangers, walking with friends/siblings, and utilizing the safest route to and from school. VISITORS – ENTRY TO SCHOOL All visitors must stop at the office to be verified before entering the building. They must provide identification during the check-in process. All doors into the school are kept locked at all times. FORGOTTEN ITEMS/MESSAGES DURING THE SCHOOL DAY
NUTRITION INFORMATION The District 181 Nutrition Guidelines were developed following the adoption of the District 181 Wellness policy. The Nutrition Guidelines are designed to promote a healthy and safe school environment. The District 181 Outside Food Guidelines were developed following the adoption of the District 181 Food Allergy Management Program. Food for special events must be approved, and ingredients posted, at least two weeks prior to an event. To request approval, please complete this form and turn in to the school office.
